The Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria or just Boqueria is the largest and most popular market in downtown Barcelona. It is located on the central La Rambla street in the old town district. La Boqueria oyou can get all sorts of fruits and vegetables, fresh meat & fish from all over the world.

With its smells, colors and sounds, the Boqueria market is a feast for all the senses.

La Boqueria is one of the oldest marlets in Barcelona. A market was first established at this place in the 12th century. In the 14th century a pig market existed here. It was first mentioned under the current name (suposedy referring to goats) in the 18th century. The market that stands here today was built in 1840.

The best time to visit the market is in the mornings when its most alive.
Try the freshly squeezed fruit juice at the fruit stand s or the famous cured ham at a charcuteria stand.
