Maritime Museum of Barcelona (Museu Maritim)

Mighty impreial galley at the Maritime Museum of Barcelona

The Maritime Museum of Barcelona displays the impressive history of this important Mediterranean port, the main entry point to the Iberian peninsula. It is housed in an equally impressive building, the medieval Royal Shipyard (Reials Drassanes), one of the best preserved medieval shipyards in the world.

Several mighty galleys of the Spanish armada, a submarine and other vessels and equipment from all periods can be found at the Maritime Museum.

The museum organizes workshops for children aged 3-12 years, as well as an interactive area called “The Great Sea Adventure”.

Tip: When visiting the Maritime Museum, don’t miss the medieval wall behind it, one of the very few remainings of the ramparts that once protected Barcelona
